Kenton and Kenn C of E Primary School’s showcased their Tag Rugby skills in an end of half term World Cup, which took place on Tuesday 17th October and Friday 20th October 2017 respectively.
Both Oak and Chestnut classes from Kenton and Class 3 and 4 from Kenn had their own tournaments and everyone displayed their best tag rugby skills which contributed to fun and exciting matches.
The Tag Rugby World Cup’s were contested between Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa. The majority of the games were closely matched and all were competitive, yet played in a good spirit.
I have run various end of term tournaments in the past, and both World Cups were equally the best I have witnessed. The improvement the children have shown in their gameplay since session one has been vast and I couldn’t be more proud.
Right then… to the results of each Tag Rugby World Cup.
Kenton Oak Award:
Match 1: Australia 2-2 England / New Zealand 1-2 South Africa
Match 2: Australia 1-0 South Africa / England 2-2 New Zealand
Match 3: Australia 3-0 New Zealand / England 4-3 South Africa
Final Positions: 1st – Australia – 8 points / 2nd – England – 7 points / 3rd – South Africa – 5 points / 4th – New Zealand – 4 points
3rd Place Play-Off: South Africa 2-2 New Zealand (South Africa won 3-2 AET)
Final: Australia 2-2 England (Australia won 3-2 AET)

Kenton Chestnut Award:
Match 1: Australia 2-2 England / New Zealand 3-3 South Africa
Match 2: Australia 3-5 South Africa / England 4-2 New Zealand
Match 3: Australia 2-5 New Zealand / England 3-5 South Africa
Final Positions: 1st – South Africa – 8 points / 2nd – New Zealand – 6 points (+1 T.D.) / 3rd – England – 6 points (0 T.D) / 4th – Australia – 4 points
3rd Place Play-Off: England 5-4 Australia
Final: South Africa 4-3 New Zealand
In the final matches, both teams scored the winning try in the last second – amazing finishes!
